I hope to find you enjoying the slightly different pace of summertime. For me, that pace has brought me to Colorado and Maine and has allowed me to spend significantly more time with my family and dear friends. The days and dog walks have been longer, and the evening ice cream trips are more frequent. I continue to reflect about the look and feel of meaningful engagement. In doing so, I am sharing with you my “monthly musings” on the work of Essential Leadership as it unfolds in real time with my clients.
Essential Leadership works with individuals and families to crystalize their values, magnify their voice, and create their vision for how they will positively impact the world. They know their essence and they are ready to lead.
What is essential?
When you identify what is really essential to you, you can eliminate everything else, and make the execution of what really matters as effortless as possible. Knowing what is essential is the disciplined pursuit of less. It allows you to channel your time, energy and effort toward making the highest possible contribution to what really matters. Saying no is critical when it doesn’t speak to your essence.
When you know your essence, you will identify what speaks to your soul. You rise as a leader in your own sphere of influence, even if you never saw yourself as or aspired to become a “leader” in the somewhat traditional sense of the word. You align your passions, your purpose, your life. When you are clear about your vision and strategies for action, you can become a potent force for good. In doing so, you will motivate and inspire others to engage in that vision.
Who I Serve
My clients are ready to think big and be bold. They include:
- People (First Generation or Multigenerational “Impactivists”) who want to make an even greater difference with their time, talents, treasure and ties;
- Women and Men who have been almost exclusively focused on building their careers and/or families, and now are ready to begin immersing in meaningful community work and civic life;
- Millennials who are looking to infuse greater purpose, connection, and enjoyment in their professional and community lives
- Those in Career, Family, or Life Transition who are in search of enhanced meaning and broader fulfillment
Those involved with community work and charitable giving in search of greater focus and impact
Families seeking to evolve their philanthropic and service work into a more structured family foundation, perhaps with meaningful engagement from next generation family members
Structured family foundations who want to revisit their values, grant making priorities, and interaction with key grantees to drive greater impact.
How I Serve
We do the work from the inside out. We create a safe space to separate out the noise of choice, the “shoulds”, and get a clear understanding of what matters to you. We examine your values and build on your strengths. We foster awareness of inner identity and fuel your own potential to take a stand in your life and in the world around issues that are of personal importance to you.
Why I Serve
This is the work that I love and, by doing it, I fulfill my own zest for connection. Through our work together, you begin to activate yourself and live your life fully. Our work will help you to derive greater meaning and higher level of engagement in your own life and in the community. How awesome is that?
“Connection is why we’re here; it is what gives purpose and meaning to our lives.” – Brené Brown, Daring Greatly

On it’s surface, reaching your potential in life seems like an individual pursuit. The pinnacle of success is something you continually strive for on your own to meet your own personal goals.
